Dear Parishioners & Friends of St. Mary’s of the Lake:
With Palm Sunday we begin our Holy Week --the holiest week of the Liturgical Year.
Chrism Mass: On TUE of the Holy Week, the annual Chrism Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral in Green Bay at 4 pm. Bishop Ricken will bless the 3 kinds of Oils to be used in all the churches and Catholic institutions in the Diocese throughout the year. Keep the Diocese & all parishes in your prayers.
The last 3 days of the Holy Week are called Holy Triduum (Latin: three days)–which included the following:
✠ Holy Thursday -Solemn Celebration of the Evening Mass of Our Lord's Supper [4 pm in Wabeno & 7 pm in Lakewood]. We will commemorate Jesus’ Institution of the Holy Eucharist & the Priesthood, and His great teaching of love (through the Washing of the Apostles’ Feet). Adoration of the Holy Eucharist will be from after Mass until 6 pm [in Wabeno] and 10 pm [in Lakewood]. Please plan to spend some time during this special Adoration time.
✠ Good Friday -Celebration of the Lord's Passion [1 pm in Wabeno & 3 pm in Lakewood], which includes: 1.- Liturgy of the Word; 2.-Adoration of the Holy Cross; 3.- Reception of Holy Communion. A Reminder: Good Friday is the Day of Fasting and Abstinence (from meat).
✠ Holy Saturday -The Easter Vigil at 8 pm [in Lakewood only] includes: 1.-The Blessing of the Fire & Preparation of the Easter Candle; 2.- The Liturgy of the Word; 3.- Blessing of Water & Renewal of Baptismal Promises; 4.- Liturgy of the Eucharist.
◆ Special Time for Confession on Holy SAT: 10 -11 AM. (Lakewood)
✠ EASTER SUNDAY –Glorious Celebration of Our Lord’s Resurrection [regular SUN Mass Schedule with an additional 9:00 AM Mass in Silver Cliff]! Alleluia!
Please plan to participate fully in the liturgies of the Triduum and Easter. As an effort to ‘share Jesus’, bring a family and/or friend to these liturgies as well. God Bless!
