Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Mary’s of the Lake:
With PALM SUNDAY we begin our Holy Week –which marks the last week of Jesus on this earth & the holiest week of the Liturgical Year. The last 3 days of the Holy Week are called Holy TRIDUUM (Latin: three days):
HOLY THURSDAY -Solemn Celebration of the Evening Mass of Our Lord's Supper, and the commemoration of Jesus’ Institution of the HOLY EUCHARIST & the PRIESTHOOD,
GOOD FRIDAY -Celebration of the Lord's Passion. We are to adore the Holy Cross, on which hung the Savior of the world; A REMINDER: Good Friday is the Day of
Fasting and Abstinence (from meat).
HOLY SATURDAY -The Easter Vigil that
leads to the GLORIOUS CELEBRATION OF
OUR LORD'S RESURRECTION.
Because of the corona virus crisis we cannot
celebrate Mass and Services in church. We
are, however, invited to participate in the
Holy Week virtually (through TV or live- streaming). Through our ‘virtual participation’ in faith, may God fill our hearts with His grace and blessings, as we continue pray that God’s Mercy be upon us and on the whole world and grant that the Covid-19 crisis be over soon and very soon...
Also: Because of the virus crisis:
Palms for Palm Sunday are not to be distributed. They may be distributed when the directive is lifted.
Public celebration of the Chrism Mass will not occur. A later communication will inform priests concerning the procedure of acquiring new Oils.
Funeral Masses and Wake Services may be celebrated, but are not exceed the State restriction of 10 people total
